Success RatesWe are proud of our success rates. Drs. Jain and Meng have a combined thirty years of experience in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Their expertise is reflected in the success rates at Santa Monica Fertility Specialists, which are among the highest in the world. Fertility practices are encouraged to report their success rates to the Center for Disease Control. The results of such data-gathering are published online, and are made available approximately two years after the information has been gathered. Because SMFS is a new practice, our pregnancy rates will not be published by the CDC until 2009. Therefore, until such time, we will provide our pregnancy success rates in the following format and update these listings every six months. Publication of pregnancy success rates allows for comparisons between fertility clinics. Rates published by individual fertility centers should be considered carefully, as some centers set strict criteria for allowing patients into their program. They do so in order to maintain seemingly superior pregnancy rates. For example, some clinics set limits on follicle-stimulating hormone levels in patients. They may also require daily clinic visits so patients can receive fertility medications, or even discontinue cycles unless a certain number of egg follicles are created. At SMFS, we view each patient as an individual and do not set arbitrary cut-offs. Rather, we feel each patient should be counseled on all possible options and then allowed to make the best decision for herself.
